Gas Equipment

MAS stocks a wide range of equipment that can be used when working with oxy-acetylene in the workshop.

Welding using oxy-acetylene is still used in industry, widely suited for welding and brazing pipes and tubes, as well as repair work. It is also frequently well-suited, for fabricating some types of metal-based artwork. Also using this oxy-acetylene method is most useful when access to electricity is difficult, therefore meaning this method of welding is far more portable and mobile within the workshop.

MIG Equipment

MIG welding was developed in the 1940’s and these initial general principles have stayed very much the same throughout this time. An arc of electricity is used in MIG welding, this is to create a short circuit between the continuously fed anode, which is the wire-fed welding gun, and a cathode, the metal being welded.

The heat produced by the short circuit, along with a non-reactive inert gas melts the metal and allows them to mix together. The metal begins to cool and solidify once the heat is removed, and forms a new piece of fused metal.
MIG welding is able to be used to weld many different types of metals, these being: aluminium, copper, steel, stainless steel, magnesium, nickel, as well as other alloys.

At MAS we can offer MIG welding machines, new, used machines, or for hire. And all the associated materials necessary.

TIG Equipment

MAS stocks the entire TIG range, this includes machines that are available as new, used or for hire. Also within the range we supply TIG filler wires, as well as Tungstens, ceramics, collets and collet bodies for most popular torches.

TIG stands for Tungsten Inert Gas and is technically called Gas Tungsten Arc Welding. The process uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode that delivers the current to the welding arc. The tungsten and weld puddle are protected and cooled with an inert gas, this is typically argon. TIG welding is similar to oxy-acetylene welding in that you use a filler material for build-up or reinforcement.

MMA – Manual Metal ARC

MAS are able to supply a number of MMA machines, either to buy or to hire, as new machines or used machines that are of a very good condition. Also available in the MAS range for MMA is welding cables, of which can be cut to length in order to suit each and every one of our customers.
